School Assembly Hall — Turnkey Design and Fit-out

An ordinary school room had to become a proper assembly hall — a space that works equally well for morning line-ups, concerts, festivals and parents’ meetings. Acoustic Delta ran the full cycle: concept, layout optimisation, acoustic calculation, and the on-site engineering and finishing that turns a drawing into a working room.

The task

Speech has to stay clear on every seat, and music has to sound full without becoming harsh — two goals that pull in different directions in a bare, reflective room. We began with a detailed acoustic calculation of reverberation and reflections, then set the treatment and the sound system around those numbers rather than around guesswork.

What we did

The project combined acoustic design with the building services that make it real: ventilation, structural, low-current and power sections were all coordinated, and the interior finishing was executed to the acoustic design so the surfaces do their acoustic job as well as their visual one. The reinforcement system was specified for even coverage and intelligibility across the whole seating area.

Result

A single room that carries a spoken announcement to the back row and a live performance to a full house — delivered as one coordinated project, from calculation to commissioning.
