A popular church filled completely on feast days, and when it did, the clergy’s speech became almost impossible to follow at the back. The room’s long reverberation only made matters worse. We specified a system built to run itself: once set up and tuned, it needs no operator during services. That places the weight on getting the tuning right, because there is no one riding the faders to correct problems live.
Taming a difficult room
The very high reverberation time demands careful calibration through a quality signal processor with automatic feedback suppression, so gain can be pushed to intelligible levels without the system breaking into feedback. Coverage was arranged to reach the whole congregation evenly.
