Acoustic Treatments in Public Venues: Materials and Design Approach

Room acoustics · Acoustic Delta technical library

Acoustic treatment in public venues must control reverberation without making the architecture look like a studio. The first step is to define which octave bands need absorption or diffusion and which surfaces can realistically carry the treatment.

Wall and ceiling panels are selected by absorber class, thickness, fire rating, impact resistance and finish. Placement is coordinated with lighting, ventilation, projection and loudspeakers so the treatment becomes part of the room rather than an afterthought.

The result should be a panel layout with quantities, mounting details and finish documentation, tied back to RT60 and intelligibility targets that can be checked after installation.
